Gown Glossary - Embellishment

Embellishment refers to the application of detail to the gown. Designers use laces, pearls, beads and sequins to embellish a garment.

Unadorned to Lightly:
Gown features little or no lace or beading

Lightly to Moderately:
Generally only lace or beading is used on bodice and/or sleeves. May have small hem lace

Moderately to Heavily:
Laces are used more lavishly. Hem lace is wider. Sleeves and bodice have detail.

Heavily to Completely:
Very lavish use of pearl, beads, sequins and/or laces throughout gown.
