Gifts for the Groom's Men
By Jacob Ramsey
Yes it's true. The groom even has to buy gifts for the ushers and his best man.
Although you might have spent a year's worth of your earnings on the engagement
ring, it's nice to think about the friends that have helped you out. You show
them your appreciation at the bachelor party or rehearsal dinner.
There are millions of things you could get for your male team. It may be tempting
to give them that Sports Illustrated Swimsuit video they always wanted, Jeff Foxworthy's
book You Might Be a Redneck If , or you might try to be sneaky and cheap and give
them that copy of Michael Bolton's Greatest Hits that a relative gave you last
Christmas, but you need to go for something a bit nicer and more sentimental.
You have moved up in life, so your taste should also. Go for something more traditional
and personalized.
Some ideas for gifts you can try are to give them a money clip with their initials
(though most of them are broke), a classy pen (not for writing letters, but circling
what show to watch in the T.V. Guide), or a monogrammed flask (so they won't have
to carry that paper bag around anymore). Usually, the gift for the best man is
a little nicer and more expensive than those for the ushers. We're not talking
Armani or 14K gold, but something nice enough to express your gratitude. Personalized
gifts take at least a couple of weeks to prepare, so even though you know you
wait until the last minute, at least give yourself a few hours for the process
to finish.
Good places to find that perfect gift for men are men's sections in department
stores, tobacco shops, fancy catalogs, and formalwear retail stores. But never
rule out your neighborhood Wal-Mart store. You can find some decent things there,
and who knows, they might a blue light special that day. Oh wait, that's K-Mart…
