Making the Announcement
By Jacob Ramsey
Wedding announcements
are a convenient way to let people know of your current status. If you are like
most couples, everyone you wanted to give invitations to did not necessarily
receive one. You do not send announcements to people that received invitations,
even if they did not come, and people that receive them are in no obligation
to buy you a gift. If they absolutely insist on buying you one, who's to say
you can't refuse?
An announcement can be made by sending out cards or displaying it in the newspaper.
If you make a card, always include your new address and name and when you will
be moved in. If you choose to post a newspaper announcement, you should include
the names, occupations, and alma maters of the bride and groom, the name of
the town and parents, the wedding location, honeymoon plans, and town in which
you will reside. Leave out insignificant details such as your favorite colors,
what kind of car you drive, and how many tattoos you have. Always check if your
newspaper has a standard form to fill out. If not, make your announcement as
creative, and legible, as possible.
