Asian Influence
By Patricia Lee

Choosing a unique theme rather than having a traditional wedding is a wonderful idea for couples. It allows them to incorporate their own ideas into the event and to live out their fantasies and dreams. There are so many different themes to choose from, and it can be a good bonding experience with family and friends for them to help you decide on what kind to have. It is good to create a unique style for your wedding, and here are some ideas on "Asian Influence":

If you are interested in going for a cultural theme, the Asian culture is a wonderful one to try. This culture offers very unique compliments to the ceremony, and though it may be traditional in its own country, it will probably be something new to you. If you have family or friends that have this heritage, ask them for opinions as to what will best accentuate the ceremony.

  • play traditional Asian music or hire dancers complete with costumes
  • decorate with cherry blossoms or customary written characters
  • use chopsticks and Asian decorated bowls and plates
  • include rice and your favorite dishes in the menu
  • for favors, give out origami cranes or engraved chopsticks
Whatever theme you choose, just remember not to go overboard. Keep the focus on the couple and not on the surroundings. Stay within your budget and spend money only on what is necessary and that you don't already own.
