A Hair-Raising Experience: An 80's Wedding
By Patricia Lee

Choosing a unique theme rather than having a traditional wedding is a wonderful idea for couples. It allows them to incorporate their own ideas into the event and to live out their fantasies and dreams. There are so many different themes to choose from, and it can be a good bonding experience with family and friends for them to help you decide on what kind to have. It is good to create a unique style for your wedding, and here are some ideas on "An 80's Wedding":

We all loved the eighties, didn't we? Who can forget all of the hair bands, leg warmers, jean jackets, and stirrups. If you consider yourself a child of the eighties and are just stick in that memorable era, you can create a wedding that will be sure to bring some delight to you and your guests. It is most likely you still have some old albums and memorable, so use them to get the party started!

  • play music such as The Police, Bon Jovi, or Heart at the reception
  • order a cake made into the shape of a record or Michael Jackson's head
  • have guests come dressed in silver gloves, colored socks, and bright eye shadow
  • for the menu, create theme-named dishes such as Motley Crue meatballs, Cyndi Lauper soup, or Billy Idol barbecue
  • decorate the tables with old records, pictures of Mr. T, or ALF dolls
  • for favors, pass out miniature bottles of hair spray or engraved headbands
Whatever theme you choose, just remember not to go overboard. Keep the focus on the couple and not on the surroundings. Stay within your budget and spend money only on what is necessary and that you don't already own.
